About Me

When I lived in Dunoon, my name was Terri Ruthruff, I first came to Scotland when my husband was in the Navy and was on the USS HOLLAND.  While there we separated.  I lived with David Richardson, whose sister Elisabeth McBurney ;ran the Glasgow Hotel.  I would love to get in touch with anyone who remembers me while I was living there in 1981 and 1982.  My son, David was born there on Nov. 19, 1981.  He died in 2001 in a car accident.   He so badly wanted to see where he was born and sadly never got to visit.  I have fond memories of the time I spent there, hanging out at the Glasgow Hotel and playing pool  in the lounge and playing dominoes and of course drinking with all the locals and the guys who delivered for Tennents, big John Hill, John Patterson, Jimmy McClusky, and a few others whose names slip my mind.

What happened to The Glasgow Hotel? How long has it been closed down? I so would like to get in touch with some of the people that I hung out with there in 1981-82. There was a man that lived next door the the Hotel on the left. His name was Alex or Alec, my memory fails at times. He had two brothers that worked with him, their names were George and John, there was also another fellow that worked with them and I believe that he was from Ireland, his name I believe was also George. I don't know what kind of work they did, but I am sure that it was some kind of labor. If there is anyone here that might know them could you please let me know as I would love to get in touch with them and talk about old times. I dearly would love to return to Dunoon and visit. Its been over 30 years, I am sure that some of the people I knew are no longer with us. I lived in a flat kitty corner from the Glasgow, when I first came to Dunoon, our landlords son was John Patterson, everyone called him Wee John. If anyone here knows any of these people would you please leave me a comment so that i can possibly get in touch with my friends from the past;
